(CHARLOTTE) -- The ACLU is raising concerns over some of the security methods being put into place ahead of the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte. Katie Parker, legal director, for the North Carolina chapter of the ACLU said she doesn't object to a reasonable approach to security.
"Since one of the provisions says that you can't carry backpack with the intent of concealing a weapon and our question was how does the police officer know if you're carrying a backpack with the intent of concealing a weapon. It seems to give the police carte blanche to search any backpack and that's a concern of ours," said Parker.
Parker said she envisioned a scenario in which someone with a backpack could be searched without cause.
