(WINSTON-SALEM) -- Detectives in Winston-Salem say they believe two human skulls discovered in a heavily wooded area near Winston Lake were used in a pagan religious practice known as Palo Mayombe.

Right now, they say they are working with local and federal agencies in an attempt to identify the origins of the skulls, but do not think there was any local assault or dismemberment. Experts say the religious ceremony the skulls were used in is considered the world's most powerful and feared form of black magic.
