(RALEIGH) -- Supporters showed up Wednesday at the State Board of Election as former Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory as he officially filed for the governor's race. He said he knows the Democratic nomination is up for grabs, but even if Gov. Bev Perdue had chosen to run, he would not alter his message.
"It would not have changed. It would not have changed our message what-so-ever. We look forward to, regardless of who our opponent is, we're going to stay and convey what our vision and what our strategy is to make that vision," said McCrory.
McCrory is, so far, unopposed on the GOP side. Bob Etheridge, Walter Dalton and Bill Faison are seeking the nod for the Democrats.
