(RALEIGH) -- After two centuries of allowing the homeless of Wake County to spend nights outside of the place of worship, the Edenton Street Methodist Church in downtown Raleigh is figuratively closing their doors. The church has signed an ordinance to ban people from the property between 11pm and 6am.

On The Bill LuMaye Show on Talk Radio 850, Pastor Lisa Yebuah said that the discussion regarding the issue is not over yet. "I think as we move forward, all of the varying voices are going to have an opportunity to begin to speak to one another so that we can wrap our minds around it. I think at the end of the day, what it is, is a journey with those who are homeless in Wake County."

Advocates for ending homelessness estimate that there are 3,300 homeless people every year in Wake County.
