(RALEIGH) -- Gov. Bev Perdue and Lt. Gov. Walter Dalton added themselves the list of five Democratic members of the Council of State calling for Democratic Party Chairman David Parker to resign. This is the latest development following allegations of sexual harassment claims and a private deal with a junior staffer.
Democratic consultant Brad Crone said this matter needs a quick resolution. "I hope that the Democrats will move swiftly to get it cleaned up. We need to be fully transparent. We need to explain what happened, how it happened and learn a lesson," said Crone.
The harassment allegations were lodged against former state party executive director Jay Parmley. He resigned on Sunday.
