(CHARLOTTE) -- Presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney used a stop in Charlotte on Wednesday to criticize President Obama. Romney delivered a speech in front of the venue where the Democratic party will nominate Mr. Obama in September.

"I know the Democratic National Convention is going to be right behind us.  I know the President is going to do everything he can to get North Carolina in his column and that will not be enough because we're going to win North Carolina in November," said Romney.

President Obama is expected to deliver his acceptance speech in Bank of America Stadium at the conclusion of the DNC in September. "What you're not going to hear is the President's record in terms of encouraging entrepreneurs to start businesses because since he's been President the number of new businesses started per year has dropped by 100,000 per year," added Romney.

During a campaign stop in Ohio on Wednesday President Obama told an audience at a community college Republican policies will not help the U.S. economy.  "Those folks on the other side, I'm sure they are patriots.  I'm sure they're sincere in terms of what they say, but their theory, I believe, is wrong," said Obama.

Mr. Obama is scheduled to visit North Carolina on Tuesday. The White House is not calling it a campaign event but rather an official visit.
