(RALEIGH) -- Some farmers are finding it hard to have enough people in the fields. Larry Wooten with the North Carolina Farm Bureau says because of labor issues, some farmers have chosen to alter their planting plans in order to ease the dependence on seasonal workers.
"I do know some tobacco farmers who, for various reasons, labor being one of them, chose not to grow tobacco this year," he said. "But certainly the the necessity of that labor at the exact right time is crucial. And when that becomes a big question in your operation, then you do adapt."
Wooten says his organization is continuing to keep a close watch on the ongoing debate over immigration policies by individual states and by the federal government.
