(RALEIGH) -- The Pat McCrory campaign is taking bold steps to get a negative campaign ad pulled off the air. The Republican nominee for governor has already called on TV stations to yank an attack ad that raises questions about McCrory's role in trying to keep a Charlotte-based business in North Carolina.

Now he's asking the FCC to get involved. McCrory spokesman Brian Nick said the group that's running the ad isn't who they claim to be. "Democratic Governor's Association is paying for the ad and they produced the ad and the did it under the name of the North Carolina Citizen's for Progress, which is actually illegal," said Nick. The FCC requires sponsors to disclose who they are.

Nick said McCrory was trying to keep jobs in the state when he intervened to keep the company from moving to South Carolina.
