IF RIELLE HUNTER TESTIFIES IN THE JOHN EDWARDS TRIAL, IT WILL NOT BE FOR THE PROSECUTION. FEDERAL PROSECUTORS WILL REST THEIR CASE TODAY WITHOUT CALLING EDWARDS' FORMER MISTRESS TO THE STAND.
EDWARDS APPEARED VISIBLY UPSET OVER TESTIMONY WEDNESDAY, RUBBING HIS EYES, KNOWING THE WOMAN AT THE CENTER OF HIS LATE WIFE'S PAIN WON'T TESTIFY AGAINST HIM. FORMER PROSECUTOR KIERNAN SHANAHAN SAYS "IF THEY PUT HER ON THE STAND, THEY CAN ONLY ASK DIRECT QUESTIONS. IF THEY WAIT UNTIL EDWARDS' ATTORNEYS CALL HER TO THE STAND, THEY CAN CROSS EXAMINE."
