(RALEIGH) -- The state house approved a $20.3 billion spending plan late Wednesday night. Republican budget revisions included some increases in education funding but some Democrats still are not happy with it. House Minority Leader Joe Hackney said more needs to be done.
"This budget does little or nothing to hire back the thousands of teachers and teacher's assistants who were laid off by the devastating budget of last year," said Hackney. "It does not put one extra textbook in our classrooms, does not provide a pencil more for any of our students."
The House debated dozens of amendments to the spending plan before taking the final vote. The measure now heads to the Senate.
