(PELETIER) -- The American Red Cross is providing meals for those impacted by a tornado in Carteret County on Wednesday. Cleanup is underway on Thursday in an areas just southwest of Peletier.

The National Weather Service confirmed that it was a strong EF1 tornado that touched down as the remnants of Tropical Depression Beryl passed by late Wednesday morning.  The tornado damaged more than 60 homes and buildings and totally destroyed as many as five homes.  No injuries were reported.
