(RALEIGH) -- The State Democratic Convention was held in Raleigh over the weekend. It was an effort to boost the energy and support among party faithful in the midst of a tough election year.
A sold out crowd paid over $100 a plate at the Raleigh Convention Center. Congressman Brad Miller outlined the goals for this November.
"This election is all about whose side government is on," said Miller.
The keynote speaker for the event was Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, the son of Vice President Joe Biden. He praised the group for helping to make North Carolina a battleground state for President Obama.
"It's because of the people in this room. It's because of what you did. It's because of the ground game that you brought to this state unlike anything that's seen at least in my lifetime," said Biden.
More than 1,200 people attended Saturday's convention.
