(RALEIGH) -- Duke Energy CEO Jim Rogers will try to reassure former Progress Energy employees that they will keep their jobs during a meeting on Wednesday. Progress CEO Bill Johnson was supposed to lead the newly merged company, but he was ousted last week, just after the merger was approved by state regulators.
Rogers was brought before the State Utilities Commission on Tuesday and asked to explain his plans. "I am having an all hands meeting here in Raleigh with all of the employees of the company at all locations and then after that meeting concludes I'm then going to have a kind of a special meeting, just for the Progress employees," said Rogers.
He said Duke Energy will keep a substantial presence in the Raleigh area of 800 - 1,000 employees. Progress Energy was based in Raleigh.
