(RALEIGH) -- The man accused of murdering an Ohio woman on the North Carolina Outer Banks has been returned to Dare County.

Nathan Summerfield is accused in the slaying of his ex-girlfriend, Lynn Jackenheimer, 33, while the two and her two children were vacationing on the Outer Banks in July. Summerfield returned to Ashland, Ohio, with the two children but without Jackenheimer. Her body was later found on Hatteras Island. An autopsy determined she had been strangled and stabbed.

Summerfield then disappeared but and was arrested Wednesday morning in an Ohio motel room. Summerfield was taken from Ohio by Dare County Sheriff’s deputies late Friday and booked into the Dare County Detention Center early Saturday. He is being held without bond.

He will appear in Dare County Court later this week.
