(RALEIGH) -- There is a new tropical depression in the Caribbean. The storm is expected to strengthen to a tropical story later in the day on Tuesday.

Gail Hartfield is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service Forecast Center in Raleigh and said the storm could eventually have an impact on North Carolina. "If the track changes obviously that could be of concern and even if it does follow this track perfectly and ends up somewhere across Cuba or in Florida or the eastern Gulf Coast we could certainly get some rainfall from that," said Hartfield.

The current track of the storm would have it somewhere between Cuba and Jamaica on Saturday night.
