(RALEIGH) -- The true story of how Margaret Mitchell's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, "Gone with the Wind", became a record-breaking film is revealed at "Real to Reel," an exhibit that opened on Friday at the NC Museum of History in Raleigh. Museum director Ken Howard said the exhibit showcases authentic memorabilia and more.

"We've got some props from the movie, Vivien Leigh's Oscar that she won for the movie, we've got the typewriter that the script for the movie was written on and we also talk about Margaret Mitchell and the uproar that came out with the book, how popular the book was at that time when it came out," said Howard.

The NC Museum of History is the only venue in the Southeast to feature Real to Reel. The exhibit  runs through January 13, 2013.
