(RALEIGH) -- Presidential politics takes aim on North Carolina this week.  Delegates began arriving over the weekend in Charlotte for the Democratic Convention.  Monday will include a street festival in Uptown Charlotte and caucus and council meetings. The Convention agenda begins on Tuesday.

San Antonio, TX Mayor Julian Castro delivers the keynote speech at the DNC Tuesday night. First Lady Michelle Obama is also scheduled to speak in prime time on Tuesday. Delegates are expected to nominate President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden for second terms on Wednesday night. Former President Bill Clinton is also expected to take to the podium on Wednesday. President Obama delivers his DNC speech on Thursday night.

While the DNC is gearing up on Monday, Republican VP nominee Paul Ryan makes a stop in North Carolina on Monday.  Congressman Ryan is expected to address students at East Carolina University.  Organizers are touting Ryan's campaign speech at ECU as the start of the Get-Out-The-Vote campaign in the Tar Heel State.
