(RALEIGH) -- Gov. Bev Perdue addressed the Democratic National Convention, early Tuesday evening. The outgoing NC Governor, who's not seeking re-election, told delegates at Time Warner Cable Arena in Uptown Charlotte that President Barack Obama's education initiatives are leading the country in the right direction.

"President Obama knows that education is the difference maker for every child and it's the pathway for this country to succeed in a global economy," said Perdue.

Perdue also noted Obama's healthcare initiatives and equal pay for women in her address to the delegation. "He had helped women across this country fight for equal pay for equal work.  He understands that women must be guaranteed access to quality, affordable health care."
