(RALEIGH) -- Democratic gubernatorial candidate Lt. Gov.Walter Dalton unveiled his economic platform for North Carolina at an event in Raleigh on Monday.
Some of what Dalton's plan would provide a $2,000 tax credit for small businesses and for employers who hire long-term unemployed workers. He also would work closely with the Department of Defense to improve North Carolina businesses’ chances of securing military contracts. There would also be targeted investments in the biotech industry. A priority of the plan would target resources to high-growth businesses with the greatest growth potential and more effort would be put into strengthening small business loan programs and capital for manufacturers.
“North Carolina’s greatest strength is its people and people in all 100 of our counties deserve a real opportunity to build a better life for themselves and their families,” said Dalton. “My jobs plan will help them do that through workforce training and helping small businesses grow.”
Dalton's Republican challenger Pat McCrory released a seven-point economic proposal earlier this summer. A focus by McCrory would be to modernize North Carolina's tax code. McCrory's full plan is available at the McCrory Campaign web site. Dalton's full plan is also available on online at the Dalton Campaign web site.
