(WASHINGTON, D.C.) -- A North Carolina congressman honored ambassador Christopher Stevens on the floor of the U.S. House Wednesday, after Stevens was killed during an uprising in Libya. Representative David Price traveled to Libya last spring, and he praised the work that is being carried out at the American embassy.
"Our purpose here today is to mark this tragic loss, the sixth, I believe, ambassador in U.S. history to be killed in the line of duty. Our personnel in Libya are dedicated personnel, the best that the U.S. has to offer," said Price.
He added that the work performed by Stevens, and three colleagues who were also killed, was in the national interest of the U.S. Priced predicted that we will continue to maintain a friendly relationship with Libya.
