Woman Accused Of Killing Daughter

(FAYETTEVILLE)  - A Fayetteville woman has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of her 4-year-old daughter. Jaime Gardner Morris, 37, is accused of killing her daughter Bella on Nov. 5.

Bella was visiting her mother and waiting for her grandfather to come pick her up. When he arrived at the residence at Elcone Drive., he found Bella unresponsive in the living room. He called 911 for assistance.

An autopsy, performed by the State Medical Examiner, determined that Bella died of asphyxiation.

Jaime Morris was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center after attempting suicide.

She was released from the hospital Monday afternoon and is being held without bond in the Cumberland County Detention Center.
