RALEIGH -- North Carolina Republican Party administrators are helping Governor Pat McCrory recruit like-minded applicants for hundreds of open state government positions.

The News & Observer of Raleigh is reporting Republican Party Executive Director Todd Poole is sending weekly notices to county GOP leaders that advertise open state jobs. Poole says he began sending the emails when he took over daily operations for the GOP in August. Available jobs and a link to a website that list the openings is sent in a spreadsheet to about 130 officials throughout North Carolina. According to Poole, the McCrory administration did not ask him to send the emails.

A spokesman for state Democrats responded saying they did not send reports to Democratic leaders recruiting for state jobx when they controlled the governor's mansion, under former Governor Bev Perdue.
