RALEIGH -- A bill has been introduced in the US Senate that would place more restrictions on abortions. North Carolina Values Coalition spokesperson Tami Fitzgerald says this comes on the heels of recent findings among studies of unborn children.
According to Fitzgerald, "The bill would ban abortion after twenty weeks in a pregnancy. Because modern science has proven that an unborn child can feel pain, at least by twenty weeks."
The bill passed in the US House earlier this year. Supporters include North Carolina Republican Senator Richard Burr; Democratic Senator Kay Hagan has not commented. We reached out to the pro-choice group NARAL, but they refused comment. NARAL told the News & Observer they are urging Senator Kay Hagan to stand against the bill.
