RALEIGH -- One of the three largest predators ever discovered in North America has been found by a team led by paleontologists from NC State University and the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences.
Siats is the name of the predator found in Utah, who was from a period that fills in a gap of about 60-million years where very little was previously known according to the lead author describing the find Dr. Lindsay Zanno.
"We chose to go and launch n expedition in this area because the rocks were deposited smack in the middle of that gap and we knew that anything we found there would be different."
According to Dr. Zanno, this dinosaur was able to keep the Tyrannosaurs from becoming the dominant predator.
