RALEIGH -- Is there too much testing being used in North Carolina schools? North Carolina's Superintendent of Public Instruction, June Atkinson, says that school testing is causing unforeseen problems.
"One thing that has happened is that because school districts want to know if their children are in line to pass a test, [that] requires some more benchmarks. So I think that it is important for us to always re-examine where we are with tests."
Atkinson says that she believes that we have put too much focus on the results of these tests. She adds that they should not be the be all or end all.
