RALEIGH -- The head of the state's largest farm advocacy group is not holding out much hope about immigration reform, but says those involved in the state's largest industry needs something done to have the workers they need, when they need them.
Larry Wooten with North Carolina Farm Bureau says the current indecision in Washington is having an impact at your dinner table.
"Everybody agrees we need border security. For those of us in agriculture we need this guest worker program that will work. We don't have enough labor. This past fall there was a shortage of labor in the state to pick the apple crop."
Wooten says he knows with the election season warming up, federal elected officials are in no mood to tackle the issue. Larry Wooten is the guest on Carolina Newsmakers, Sunday, March 30.
