Millions of people across the world will be switching off their lights for one hour Saturday. It's part of a movement called "Earth Hour 2014." Keya Chatterjee, Director of Renewable Energy and Footprint Outreach at World Wildlife Fund, said the event takes place at 8:30 p.m. local time.

Chatterjee said, "Basically what we're asking people to do is turn off their lights for 60 minutes to show their solidarity with the environmental movement around the world and their support for action on climate change and environmental protection."

Charlotte, Fayetteville, and the environmental alliance at Duke University have committed to the movement, according to Chatterjee.
