RALEIGH -- Nearly 1 million North Carolinians will be hitting the road over the Memorial Day Weekend, and they will have plenty of company from the watchful eyes of the state Highway Patrol. First Sergeant Jeff Gordon says the Click It Or Ticket Campaign is underway through June 1st to make sure motorists are buckling up.
Gordon said, "They're going to be out on the highways looking for those individuals that fail to buckle up when they get behind the wheel. Studies have shown that seat belts do save lives."
Gordon added that all branches of law enforcement will be involved in the campaign. He also said the latest statistics showed 89% of motorist in the Tar Heel state routinely buckled up.
