RALEIGH -- North Carolina ranks 27th in terms of best states for military retirees, in a recent Wallet-Hub study. John Kiernan is a Senior Analyst at Wallet-Hub, and he says they took their research from several aspects of life to get a well-rounded picture of what each state had to offer veterans.
Kiernan said, "They kind of collectively speak to the economic environment in each state, the quality of life military retirees and veterans can expect, and also the healthcare support system in those areas."
Wyoming topped the list; California was last. Kiernan added North Carolina could take steps to ease taxes on military retirees to improve their standing on the list.
