RALEIGH -- During the summer, visitors to North Carolina's beaches spend over seven million dollars daily. This holiday weekend will likely see retailers take a hit because of Hurricane Arthur.
Wit Tuttle with the state's tourism department tells us that our state relies heavily on tourist dollars,
"Tourism is a $20 billion industry in North Carolina. The Fourth of July weekend is huge. The impact, while it will have an impact, it is so much less than what this would have been had the storm had come a day or two later."
Most beaches are already reopened to the public.
