DURHAM -- Incentives are a staple of business recruitment in today's global economy, and North Carolina is no different. Discussion among state lawmakers has differed on offering those incentives, but Research Triangle Park President, Bob Geolas, says they are a reality we must face.
Geolas said, "Whether you like them or not, not to participate is like unilateral disarmament. It might be a noble thing to do, but it's not going to help you win any games. You have to be able to demonstrate some incentives that are going to help you compete in the game. But, more than anything, is the quality of life that you offer in the region."
Geolas added it is important to be fair, responsible, and to not be over generous when offering the incentives.
