RALEIGH -- Governor Pat McCrory is still in negative numbers in popularity, according to Tom Jensen with Public Policy Polling.
Tom Jensen with the survey firm says that McCrory has held steady and is still is much better shape than his predecessor Democrat Bev Perdue, who proved to be so unpopular she chose not to run for re-election.
"We would generally see Governor Perdue sort of in the -25 to - 30 range in terms of her net approval and McCrory is generally in the -5 range. It is interesting that kind of no matter what happens, we don't really see those numbers move."
While it is more than two years before he would stand for re-election, Jensen says their tracking polls show that the Republican McCrory has maintained a razor thin lead in an hypothetical matchup with Democratic Attorney General Roy Cooper, who has given hints that he is considering a bid.
