CHAPEL HILL -- With the first case of Ebola reported in the U.S., a UNC Chapel Hill Doctor says he wants to return to Guinea to stop the spread of the epidemic at its source.
Dr. William Fischer recently spoke to the Board of Trustees at UNC about his experiences this past summer as part of medical team which went to that country last summer.
[Where I worked] was especially important because they have the highest rates of this entire epidemic.
It is in the most austere environment that I have ever visited, let alone worked in. I had no labs to support what I was doing."
He arrived in Guinea about five months after the initial Ebola outbreak.
