HIGH POINT -- It's a dead heat. New poll numbers, out Monday from High Point University, show that Incumbent Democratic Senator Kay Hagan and Republican challenger Thom Tillis each have 44% in the race for the U.S. Senate. Martin Kiefer, an assistant political science professor, says the race has been tight for some time.
Kiefer says, "In this month, I have seen at least one poll that appeared to have Thom Tillis up by a little bit. We saw some others that just had it close. It's a very competitive race."
Libertarian Shaun Haugh is polling at 5%, with 3% undecided, and the remaining 5% voting for "other."
