RALEIGH -- A hearing, that lasted over a month in Raleigh, debating rate increases for homeowner's insurance in North Carolina wrapped up on Wednesday, of last week. Meanwhile, a survey of rates across the nation found that prices are already on the way up after just one claim is made, according to Laura Speer with InsuranceQuotes.com.

Speer said, "We're seeing 14.8% increases in North Carolina. So, not at the top of the list. The state that was at the top was Wyoming, at 32%."

Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin will rule on whether insurance companies are allowed to raise rates. Insurance providers had requested an increase of more than 25%, after last year's winter weather increased claims.
