CHARLOTTE -- AAA Carolinas predicts 1.34 million in the state will travel 50 miles or more from home this Thanksgiving holiday. The lower gas prices are encouraging more people to hit the road. The Motor Club's Tiffany Wright says the statewide average for regular unleaded is $2.77, down 57 cents from the price during the Labor Day holiday.

Wright said, "It's also 46 cents less than we paid last Thanksgiving. So, it's definitely a great time to be hitting the road and traveling this holiday season."

AAA Carolinas thinks the price will dip another 3 to 5 cents during the holiday travel period, just in time for the roughly 1.2 million holiday road warriors to enjoy the lowest gas prices in five years.
