(Forsyth County) Forsyth County's first black state senator says that she will resign. State Senator Earline Parmon announced that she will resign next week from the North Carolina General Assembly. Parmon was elected to the state Senate in November of 2012 and said in a statement "Although I am resigning my Senate seat, I will continue to work for the people." She spent 10 years as a representative in state District 72 and was a Forsyth County Commissioner for 12 years.
