RALEIGH -- It's a way to encourage more African American students to get interested in science, math and engineering careers, and to become entrepreneurs. North Carolina Central University opens its new "FAB Lab."
It carries the "Fab" name, not just because it's fabulous, but because it can help students learn how to fabricate, create, and innovate. NCCU started its lab, cooperating with MIT, which invented the project. Dr. Faye Calhoun, is the interim director of the FAB Lab,
"It's a place to play and invent. It's a stimulus that we provide for students so that they can develop some sort of entrepreneurship."
Calhoun says she thinks the lab will help students develop valuable skills for the workforce.
