RALEIGH - As North Carolina's economy continues to grow, a new leader will take hold of the capital city's business community. Tim Giuliani was named the new president and CEO of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce and Giuliani says he was attracted to the city because of the "Carolina Comeback."

"There's not a person in the country that hasn't heard the success story of Raleigh and the research triangle so my impressions started many years ago," Giuliani says. "It was clear the reasons why it was successful and I look forward to being part of that next chapter."

Giuliani will be the chamber's president and CEO and was the chamber president in Gainesville, Florida during the state's economic growth. He says moving to a new state will be not a great change because the goals are the same: job creation.

"It's at the core of what make economies and communities strong," Giuliani says. "I don't think it matters where you are in the country -- the need for good jobs, for a good business climate, for opportunities is across the globe."

And Giuliani says the business community in Gainesville grew because of the proximity to the University of Florida's flagship school and Sante Fe community college, so he says North Carolina will offer a similar link between schools and business.

"Over the last few years in my time in Gainesville, our success really came because of the collaboration we had to facilitate between government, university and community college," he says. "In many ways, it's that collaboration here that's made us successful."

Giuliani says he will start his time by making sure the connections between the chamber and other businesses is firm.

"The first priority I have is to get out into the community to make sure I begin immediately building relationships that have enabled the chamber to be successful over the years," he says."
