RALEIGH -- The document that laid the groundwork for individual rights in Anglo-American jurisprudence, Magna Carta, will be celebrated in an exhibition at the State Capitol in January.
To commemorate the 800th anniversary of the sealing of the document and the liberties granted by King John, the American Bar Association has joined the Library of Congress and its Law Library to produce "Magna Carta: Enduring Legacy 1215-2015."
Spectacular images of Magna Carta, precious manuscripts and documents from the Library of Congress's rare book collections are captured on 12 banners. The Library of Congress curated the free exhibit which will be on display in the State Capitol rotunda Jan. 19-30.
The public is invited to an opening reception Jan. 19 at 5:30 p.m. The Triangle Lawyers Chapter of the Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies are reception sponsors, which will include light refreshments. RSVP for the reception to the Federalist Society and Tyler Brooks.
