(RALEIGH) -- A congressional conservative and Tea Party favorite was in Raleigh Monday night to talk about U.S. foreign policy and Republican prospects in 2012. Texas congressman Ron Paul said it is his opinion that the U.S has no business using its military to oust Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi.
"It's a continuation of a deeply flawed foreign policy and it will not end well," said Paul. "If for no other reason, people should be frightened about casually going to war with no permission and committing hundreds of millions of dollars." He added that the U.S. involvement in Libya shows a hypocrisy that tells people that involvement in countries that harbor oil interests are more important than those that do not.
For the past two conservative political action straw polls, he has been the favorite among conservative voters.
