(RALEIGH) -- North Carolina's jobless rate grew to 10.1 percent in July. That is up from June unemployment rate of 9.9 percent, according to the state Employment Security Commission.
"The number of people employed in the labor force dropped. The number of people unemployed increased. Certainly government loss offset the gain that the private sector made," said Larry Parker of the State ESC.
July's unemployment increase ends nine months in which the jobless rate was below 10 percent. The rate is now back to where it was one year ago.
