(CHARLOTTE) -- Gas prices continue to inch downward across North Carolina.  The state average for a gallon of regular gas is now $3.41.

Tom Crosby of AAA Carolinas said over the remainder of the year, motorist should be pleased with with the numbers at the pump. "I think we're going to continue to see it decrease.  We may see a little bump coming into Thanksgiving, which is the heaviest motorist traveling weekend of the year, but I think we're going to see the prices remaining fairly low or lower between now and January," said Crosby.

The current average price of gas in North Carolina is six cents less than a week ago, and 20-cents less than a month ago. Crosby added that prices certainly vary from one gas station to another with some selling a gallon of regular for $3.30.
