(CARY) -- Sen. Kay Hagan wants to cut out some of the red tape small businesses experience when applying for federal loans and other programs. She discussed her ideas with minority owned small business leaders Thursday during a roundtable session in Cary.
"I think it was a very good roundtable, a lot of discussion was made about the amount paperwork and cumbersome paperwork that many times small businesses just don't have the staff to complete," said Hagan.
She supports the idea of creating one application for small businesses to use when applying for federal loans and other assistance. "Let's put together what's called a common application form, just like students do today when they apply to colleges and they can submit that form to any federal agency."
Thursday's roundtable was part of Hagan's statewide jobs tour. She is a member of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship.
