RALEIGH -- Tax season isn't usually the happiest time of the year for most people, but there is some good news. AARP will offer free tax assistance once again, and they encourage you to take advantage of their service.

Vivian Vasallo, Vice President of the AARP Foundation, says the program continues to grow each year.

"We have over 6,000 sites across the country and over 100 in North Carolina. It is really a needed service. Again, low to moderate income, older adults already on very limited income as it is can really benefit from having free tax preparation provided."

Vasallo says tax aide sites have been open since February 1st.
