RALEIGH -- Kay Hagan continues to lead Thom Tillis in early polling for the US Senate race, according to a recent poll.

Public Policy Polling, which typically surveys for Democratic candidates, is reporting Democratic incumbent Kay Hagan now has an advantage over her Republican challenger Tillis 41% to 34%. Libertarian Sean Haugh is currently polling at 8%. Hagan's lead is up from 2 points in May and 5 points in June and appears to be emphasized by Haugh's supporters.The legislative short session does not appear to be helping House Speaker Tillis, as only 19% of voters approved of the job the General Assembly is doing.
