New Chancellor Chosen for ECSU

ELIZABETH CITY -- Elizabeth City State University has a new a chancellor.

Stacey Franklin Jones was chosen during the UNC Board of Governors meeting Thursday in Chapel Hill.

"I see ECSU gaining prominence for, and this is amongst other things, being the most affordable academic success university in North Carolina."

Jones succeeds Charles Becton, who had served as interim chancellor at the historically black college for the last 13 months. Jones is a 1982 graduate of Howard University. She later earned masters' degrees in numerical science and technical management from The Johns Hopkins University and a doctorate in computer science from George Washington University. She takes over October 1.
