RALEIGH -- Governor Pat McCrory announced Tuesday he will let the Coal Ash Management Act, passed by North Carolina's General Assembly Aug. 20, become law without his signature. The governor said that while the bill continues the aggressive approach his administration has taken to attack the coal ash issue, constitutional, operational and funding concerns with the bill prevent him from giving the bill a full endorsement.
Could Gov. Pat McCrory be thinking about calling state lawmakers back to Raleigh in order to take up unfinished business from the short legislative session? Don't count on it for now. The governor spoke to reporters, Tuesday morning, after a brief council of state meeting and was asked about medicaid expansion.
The governor said, "I do not anticipate a special session on Medicaid, but you'll be hearing about any further activity in the near future, too. Right now, I'm still completing the process of action or non-action on bills, and I hope to have that done in the very near future."
