CHAPEL HILL – We’re learning more about Sunday’s celebration of life service for long UNC Basketball coach Dean Smith in Chapel Hill Sunday.
The memorial at 2 p.m. will feature comments by former players, coaching colleagues and family friends, video tributes and several musical selections.
According to a release from the university, speaking on behalf of the Carolina Basketball Family and the Smith family will be Mickey Bell, Erskine Bowles, Billy Cunningham, Brad Daugherty, Phil Ford, Antawn Jamison, Eric Montross, Reverend Robert Seymour, former Georgetown Coach John Thompson and Carolina Coach Roy Williams.
Pastor David Chadwick, who played for Smith at UNC, will offer the invocation.
Those attending the event should expect the program to last approximately two hours. Attendees may bring bottled water into the arena.
Stations on The North Carolina News Network will be airing the service, starting with a special tribute starting at 1 p.m.
